Benefits for participating
- You would be doing a tremendous service to a program that has a tremendous benefit to the staff and youth and children who attend.
- The program is also geared to help you gain experience, develop personal leadership skills, and grow in your walk with Jesus Christ.
- Serving as an SIT is a tremendous opportunity to be recognized for future staff positions at Wilderness Camp.
- The SIT group gets to travel off property in a special weekend SIT outing which you help plan.
- You will receive a few staff perks like a staff shirt and a 25 percent discount on any camp store purchase while you are here.
- You will also receive a $100 discount towards a Navigators Week or the senior expedition of your choice if you choose to go!
In order to be considered you must…
- Have graduated 10th grade or are at between the ages of 16-18.
- Possess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be in agreement with our statement of faith.
- Be available for the entire two weeks of service.
- Initiate the process by submitting references and applications in good time. Most of our SIT confirmations occur between March and May.
- Be available for a personal phone interview.
- Once you are accepted register for the appropriate week using the camper on-line registration feature and pay the registration fee.
How to apply
Most of our SIT hires happen between the months of March and May. The earlier you apply the more positions we will have opened to you.
- Complete the SIT application either on line or on paper. We will begin processing summer SIT applications in February of 2010 but you are welcome to submit one prior.
- For on-line applications, make sure to select the submit button, making sure that the application is complete.
- For printable pdf applications, once complete mail them: attention Eric Kauffman, Spruce Lake Wilderness Camp, RR#1 Box 605, Canadensis PA 18325.
- Contact those who you would like to be your reference (see criteria on the application) and ask permission to use them as references. Send the reference form to four different references.
- For on-line references, you may use the reference sender feature and be sure e-mail addresses are correct. Because of spam we recommend that you follow up with each reference to make sure the reference link was received.
- For printable pdf references, you may print the reference form and provide it to your references with an envelope addressed to Spruce Lake Wilderness Camp and a first class stamp.
- Wait. It takes any where from 2-4 weeks for references to be returned and all the materials to be reviewed.
- Within 3-4 weeks we will contact you either about a phone interview or to decline. If you do not hear from us within 3-4 weeks please contact us again to see where the process is. That’s it; we can’t wait to hear form you!
