Discoverers Wilderness Camp

Discoverer Mini-Week Ages 7-10: July 9-11 $150
Discoverer Parent Child Camp Ages 7-10: July 6-8 $200 per 2 participants
Discoverer Week Ages 8-10: July 27-August 1 $285

As our youngest campers, Discoverers have the option of attending a Mini-Week (Wednesday through Friday), a full week (Sunday through Friday), or even attending with a special adult (Sunday through Tuesday). The variety of Discoverer Camps invites participation and exploration of new interests, and provides recognition for achievements as children enjoy one of their first-time experiences in Christian camping. Activities include group games, slingshot, mini-zipline, swimming, kayaking, nature activities, sports, the 300-foot water slide, daily devotionals and evening Fireside worship — to mention only a few! Our youngest campers who attend either of the following camps without parents/adults have our commitment for sound nurture and supervision. Two Christian counselors per tent group will look after daily needs, and all tent groups stay together for the daily activities.

Discoverer Mini-Week
Ages: 7-10
Dates: July 9-11
Cost: $150

This 3 day camp is filled with activities to allow campers to experience their first taste of Wilderness Camp. The schedule & activities reflect camper’s needs for developing skills, experiencing new things & receiving recognition for achievements.

The general schedule includes beginning the day with a breakfast over the fire as a tent group. After breakfast campers will experience a Life Search devotional as a tent group tailored to their age & maturity level with lots of interactive learning. The morning & afternoons are filled with activities for the tent groups to enjoy together. Activities include nature study, mini Zipline, kayaks, waterslide, sling shot, swimming and sports. Evenings bring the entire camp population together for a time of games & worship. The schedule is developed to meet the campers need for interaction with other campers and staff on a daily basis as well as providing them with some down time during the afternoon as well. A special end of week carnival with games, activities & inflatables is the finale to their time at camp.

Two counselors are assigned to each tent group and at least one counselor will be present with their assigned group at all times. Counselors are trained to look after camper needs in many areas including hygiene, nutrition and personal responsibilities and how to ensure the needs of campers are being met. Training during orientation provides counselors with tools to handle the needs of this particular age group and leadership provides accountability to ensure it is being carried out.
